The Importance of Chinese (language)

Before I begin, let me share a joke with all of you.

Hit my Head

An old blacksmith realized he was soon going to quit working so hard. He picked out a strong young man to become his apprentice.

The old fellow was crabby and exacting. "Don't ask me a lot of questions," he told the boy. "Just do whatever I tell you to do."

One day the old blacksmith took an iron out of the forge and laid it on the anvil. "Get the hammer over there," he said. "When I nod my head, hit it real good and hard."

Now the town is looking for a new blacksmith.

*******

I flunked Chinese ever since I step into secondary school and thought that I can go on with basic knowledge of Chinese (know how to speak, don’t know how to read or write)

Everything went well until today when I tried ZhuXian online. Everything is in Chinese, so that leaves me no choice but to follow my instincts (leave the town, and target the nearest monster to lvl up) and to find a ‘warehouse’ where you store items, always look for the place where many shops gathered.

All the quests are in Chinese too, makes me go @@ when I attempt to read the quest information. Luckily for most of the quests, they highlight the keywords and by clicking on those keywords, your character will automatically move to the location described.

Oh well..

*******

So.. I spent most of my holiday downloading games and more games (both old and new) thanks to RapidShare and MegaUpload.

I’ve downloaded:

Call of Duty 5,

Baldur’s Gate I & II,

Doom 3,

Sins of the Solar Empire,

Bejeweled Twist,

Luxor – Quest for the Afterlife,

Off-World Resource Base,

and a few more that I had forgotten. Of course, not all the games downloaded will actually work flawlessly. For example COD5, No matter what I did, the game always crashes in mission 3. Troubleshooting tells me that the problem lies in my graphic card’s driver. Nothing I can do with it so that’s one game down. Loss: 1 weeks time.

Then there’s Baldur’s Gate, the storyline and quests are abundant but the gameplay just doesn’t suit me. So that’s 1 weeks time wasted (again.)

The doom 3 I downloaded was pre-installed and ready to play, that’s good since it will save me time by skipping the installation process. But somewhere through the game, 1 mission is corrupted and makes the game unplayable. Sigh...

The rest are working fine (luckily).

Christmas is probably the day I longed for every year.

But then many people tend to forget that Christmas is all about celebration and Santa. Well, it’s kinda wrong IMO. Christmas for celebration, that’s fine with me. But with Santa taking over the birth of Jesus Christ, we lost the true meaning in celebrating Christmas you see… anyway, that’s just my viewpoint.

Before you read on, this part is not purposely meant for anyone as it only serves as a reminder to all of us.

This is for those who think that their life sucks and hating themselves, intending to end their life as quickly as possible:

Be thankful that you are living a normal and blessed life, with no physical defects on yourself. Just think of the people out there without a proper home to shelter them and those with physical deformities from birth.

If you intend to complain about your current life, just think of how many who are more than willing to trade with you.

I'll stop here for now. Thanks for reading...

Challenging myself

This will be my last entry until finals are over...

Here's a simple joke to entertain you all.

3 Little Pigs

One day the first grade teacher was reading the story of the Three Little Pigs to her class. She came to the part of the story where the first pig was trying to accumulate the building materials for his home.

She read, "...and so the pig went up to the man with the wheel barrow full of straw and said, "Pardon me sir, but may I have some of that straw to build my house?"

The teacher paused then asked the class, "And what do you think that man said?"

One little boy raised his hand and said, "I think he said 'Holy Sh!t! A talking pig!'"

The teacher fainted.

The remaining days before finals can be counted by any single hand - 4 (nearing 3) days left.

That marks the 4th day without touching any computer games at all. Sure, anyone can do that easily but that's totally different for me.

I started playing DOS games like Pacman and Digger when I was 3 years old and had been playing games till now.

I find it hard to not touch games for even a single day. But for the sake of finals, I gave in and challenged myself to not touch games during the remaining 1 week + 3 days (for final exam).

From here I can understand those who are alcoholic - You want to stop but you can't bring yourself to.

For gameaholic people like me, it's easy to not touch any games. The hard part is to suppress the urge within you when you see others playing and you know that you want to join in too. So far, I have been able to resist it and hope that I have the willpower to continue on.

So.. To everyone who knows me, feel free to give me a slap or a punch if you see me playing any computer games within this 1 week.

Thanks! ^ ^

Blog hopping

Sometimes out of boredom, I usually lurk in forums, download sites (with good old google) and blogs.

So, I started with Ah Jen's blog (randomly), scanned through her friend list and decided to visit Aurelia's blog. After reading the latest entry, I'll scan through her friend list and pick one of them randomly (yes I know this is a bad habit of mine).

Then I noticed Annie's blog, hopping to Amy's blog and Angel's blog. Finally stopping by Salim and Jason's blog. (didn't know they had blogs too.. I guess blogging really became popular)

Will re-organize my friend list after the finals..

Just now, Dad asked us a question:

What do we have on our bodies that Adam and Eve don't have?

After much guessing, we gave up.

Being a sporty person, I'll let you readers give a guess before scrolling down. =D

Here's a good chance to guess what we have that our ancestors don't have, don't tempt yourself and scroll down!

Dad said: Navel (or belly button)

And my legs felt numb for a short while.

-_- ...

Oh and for all the couples out there. Be careful not to piss your bf/gf (bf usually) off if you want to break up with him. I can understand how he feels

The reason I said this is because there's one guy who is taking revenge on his ex-girlfriend by creating a website that will show her ex-girlfriend's nude photos and asking the public to spread the 'good' news to others.

For every number of fowarding, more and more 'revealing' pictures will appear on the website for the current user.

I'm sure some of you out there already saw the link since the link was fowarded to me hours ago via MSN messenger.

But as a saying goes: Curiosity kills the cat. So I ignored it assuming it's another MSN virus until a friend of mine took quite some time pursuading me that it's not a virus.

The link is valid but I'm not sharing the link here even though this is going against my policy of: We must share all the good things together. (applies for guys only)

I'm not being selfish, this part of the entry is just to serve as a warning to the readers out there :)

Experience

I almost got into an accident yesterday.

It happened somewhere near Jalan Song. There were some men pruning the trees and they blocked a part of the 2 lane road. There’s this Unser that I am following blindly. The driver showed no signals of braking so I drove on as usual until I realized something is wrong since the gap between my car and his car is closing up at an insane speed.

Something like this ( no time to take picture of the original happening )

The most sensible choice is to brake immediately, which I did and was so close to getting involved in an accident. My dad said if I were to be involved in an accident, he would have to make a false report that it was him who was driving or my driving license would be suspended.

Being one who doesn’t want others to take the blame for me, I can only take a deep breath to cool down my tensed self and give thanks to the Lord for preventing an accident that is going to befall on me.

Praise the Lord, for He had been so kind and merciful to me. Always and forever.
